The teaching
Whatever joy there is in this world,
All comes from desiring others to be happy;
Whatever suffering there is in this world,
All comes from desiring myself to be happy.

Bodhicitta is the challenge of not letting ourselves rot in the cage of pettiness. Bodhicitta is the greatness of mind that transforms us, and our world. It is the vow to discard our own nirvana, and work for that of others'. The practice of Bodhicitta is not a moralistic path, but, based on trust in the basic goodness common to all life, it entails courageously changing our motivation and eliminating confusion. It is the very heart of the great Buddhist path of awakening.
In this public talk, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche will present the perspectives and practices of Bodhicitta.
