Ross connected with Tibetan Buddhism in Australia in the mid 1970’s and has been actively involved since.
In 1981, Ross moved to Bodh Gaya, India, where he lived for 12 years. There he used his skills as an engineer to help build “Karma Temple,” a temple and monastery complex for Beru Khyentse Rinpoche. He also held novice ordination for six years and had the wonderful opportunity to meet with and receive teachings and empowerments from several great lineage gurus. In 1983, Ross met Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche for the first time.
After his return to Australia, Ross went to Vajradhara Gonpa in New South Wales for a short retreat in 1994 and then again in 1995. Afterwards, he stayed on and lived and worked at the Gonpa for the next 17 years, officially becoming a student of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in 1996.
Ross was extremely fortunate to have participated in the two three-year retreats that were held at the Gonpa under Rinpoche’s guidance.
Ross lives with his wife Tsering in Kyogle, a beautiful country area not far from where the Gonpa used to be.
