The ultimate sutra on the ultimate truth, 12-13 June 2014
Rinpoche has taught the Vimalakirti Sutra repeatedly over the past few years. One of those times was in São Paulo in the middle of the 2014 World Cup. Unscheduled and unplanned. This should tell us how important this sutra is!

The Buddha addressed many audiences with varying capacities, all needing to be taught differently. For this reason, the Buddha gave two types of teaching: expedient and direct. The Vimalakirti Sutra is revered as one of the direct teachings: a profound discourse on emptiness which leads us, through a series of questions and answers, to examine the nature of reality and our own dualistic minds. Which audience is this sutra designed for? Those who have the courage to go beyond dualistic thinking to see that our reality, just like the reflection of the moon in water, is both there and not there.
