Carlo R. Carranza has been studying and practicing in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition for more than 24 years. He received his first teachings from Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in 2001 while studying at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where he also met Ani Lodro Palmo, who inspired him to ordain. As a result, he was a monk for ten years and received his Bhikshu vows from the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso.
Carlo became a Siddhartha ’s Intent instructor in 2012 and has studied and taught in several countries including India, Nepal, United States, Spain, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, and Mexico. He has received teachings from masters such as 41st Sakya Trinchen, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Geshe Gelek, Khenpo Ngawang Jorden, Khenpo Choying Dorje, among others from the four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and from other traditions such as Theravada as well. He has some experience doing Ngöndro as well as retreats in general.
Carlo has been an interpreter for Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and other teachers. He also translates and edits Buddhist texts into Spanish for his main teacher Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche - including Best Foot Forward and the commentary on Chandrakirti’s Madhyamakavatara - as well as for other authors. He is also part of Khyentse Foundation’s Milinda Program for Western Instructors, where he has studied the five main subjects of Madhyamika, Prajñaparamita, Abhidharma, Vinaya (sets of vows) and Pramana (valid cognition). Carlo is a board member of Siddhartha’s Intent Mexico.
Anyone is welcome to contact Carlo in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
