Gesar Practice (SIWD)
Please join the SIWD sangha for a monthly Gesar online practice starting Sunday, March 17th, 11 am Pacific Time. Everyone is welcome to attend, but only those with the empowerment can receive a text. You are receiving this email because you are part of a Siddhartha’s Intent Western Door practice mailing list. Upon registering for the practice you will be asked if you have received the Gesar empowerment. If yes, you will receive a text beforehand. The sadhana we will practice this month will be Dorje Tsegyal Kangsol translated by Gyurme Avertin as “Instant Fortune” in his new book of Gesar translations. Each month we will alternate between Dorje Tsegyal Kangsol and a Gesar Guru Yoga / Protector combination practice.
Preparation for the online Gesar practice
Please review this Introduction to Gesar Practice written and edited by Chris Jay based on quotations from Gesar teachings by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, with translations by Jakob Leschly and Douglas Mills.
Following the practice example and instructions given by Ross Smith in Australia last month, Chris Jay will host and explain the practice as we go through it. He will set up a Gesar shrine and make offerings on behalf of us all. You may also like to prepare your own offerings such as:
- Incense
- Small plate of food for torma
- Small glass of alcohol (eg Gin) or tea or what you may like to offer for drink
- Small glass of alcohol or tea (with a little mendrup/ dutsi if you have some) to represent Amrita
- Water for blessing
This will be a recurring monthly practice on the third Sunday of every month.
