Sara was born and raised in southern Spain by hippie parents, discovering her connection to the Buddhist path at a young age. She began attending short retreats at O Sel Ling in Granada, Spain, and in 2009, she traveled to Nepal and India to deepen her practice and study of the Dharma under esteemed teachers such as Dorzong Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, and Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche. During this time, she also studied Tibetan language at the Manjushri Institute in Darjeeling.
In 2010, Sara met Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in Bir and soon after became his devoted student. Since then, she has studied and practiced under his guidance. In 2014, she moved to the United States, where she now works as a full-time UX/UI designer in California. Despite her professional commitments, Sara continues to dedicate significant time to study, practice, and volunteer work for Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche’s organizations.
Sara is particularly drawn to the ritual aspects of Vajrayana practice and has received extensive training under Khenpo Sonam Tashi. She has served as a chopon for the Bay Area sangha and during drupchens with Rinpoche. Additionally, she occasionally works as a Spanish interpreter for Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche’s teachings and translates his writings into Spanish. She is also a translator for Lotsawa House.
As an instructor for the Ngondro Gar and Dharma Gar, Sara is committed to supporting and encouraging students along their path, helping them integrate Dharma practice into their busy lives. She believes that practice extends beyond the cushion and is currently developing a new program for beginners.
Sara is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English, welcoming correspondence in either language.
