Kim began practicing Buddhism in 2000 within the Karma Kagyu lineage. Some years later she attended a Ngondro retreat at Deer Park, India, in 2009, introducing her to Siddhartha’s Intent, and encountered Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche soon after. Since 2012, she has been involved in coordinating visits to New Zealand by Siddhartha’s Intent instructors. In 2021, Kim was appointed Director of Siddhartha's Intent New Zealand. Together with a newly elected board, she oversaw the organisation's registration as a charitable trust in 2022.
Kim and her vajra husband, musician Simon Thomas, share their lives living between Corsair Bay, New Zealand, and Boudhanath, Nepal. They run an online business focused on ozone therapy. Kim & Simon enjoy the local music, arts, and community scene, as well as spending time taking their dog, Kali, for walks in nature.
