Retreat Program Co-ordinator beginning Spring 2025

After 20 years of service at Sea to Sky Retreat Centre (SSRC), the retreat program co-ordinator is retiring. A dedicated Buddhist practitioner who is a good communicator and well-organized is being sought to step into this role.    English fluency is essential and preference will be given to those who are potentially available for more than 1 year.  For a quick summary of the current status of SSRC, see the following Retreat Centre status section.  To learn more about the work involved in the Retreat Program Co-ordinator role, please send an email to [email protected]

Kitchen Manager/Head Chef beginning Spring 2025

SSRC is dedicated to the tradition of vegetarian whole foods cooked with the best of intentions.  The cooks at SSRC are encouraged to take inspiration from the instructions by the great Zen Buddhist master, Dogen, to the “kitchen master”.  If you feel so inspired and would like to offer service as a retreat centre cook, there is a need for you at SSRC beginning next Spring.  To explore this opportunity further, please send an email to [email protected]

RETREAT CENTRE STATUS

The Sea to Sky Retreat Centre (SSRC) is flourishing!

      Financial Self-Sufficiency

  • SSRC’s operation is financially self-sufficient and has been for many years.
  • Annual operating revenue has consistently exceeded annual operating expense. Nonetheless, retreat rates are far lower at SSRC than other comparable facilities
  • Annual audited financial statements document the financial well-being of SSRC.

     Volunteer Support

  • In the past 20 years, there has never been a shortage of volunteers.   No retreat program has been cancelled during the past 2 decades due to a lack of SSRC staff.
  • For its 30+ years of operation, SSRC has operated successfully with different teams and different leaders.
  • An active program of visiting volunteers complements the long-term focus of the resident volunteers.

     Charitable Mission Fulfillment

  • The experience of those participating in retreats at SSRC has been consistently and overwhelmingly positive.
  • In addition to supporting long-time Buddhist practitioners, SSRC continues to be a gateway for new Buddhists and a natural magnet for young people.
  • The SSRC Annual Event Calendar is filled well in advance with retreat programs and provides objective evidence for anyone to see of the fulfillment of SI Canada’s mission
