Caroline was born and raised in Southern Brazil, in a town too small to be found on the map. At the age of 10 she became the mayor of her street, but despite her wish to make a change in the world, she soon realized politics was not for her. She then turned to journalism, sending her manifestoes to a few local newspapers, which were all rejected. As adulthood kicked in, she started dividing her time between her passion for writing – having co-authored a couple of books and completed a master’s in literature – and volunteer work for various social and animal organizations.
In 2015, she accidentally encountered Buddhism while taking a stroll in the neighbourhood. She started practicing under the guidance of Lama Padma Samten, a Brazilian Lama student of Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, and a few years later found her main guru when watching a movie.
In 2022, she was appointed by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to the SI Global Committee, and though still a beginner on the path, her main aspiration is to serve her teacher and the sangha to the best of her abilities. She also acts as an interpreter for Dharma teachers and a translator of Dharma texts into Portuguese.
