Contemplating Reality, led by Andy Karr (Halifax + Zoom, Jan 2 – Feb 6, 2023)
Starting Monday, January 2 through February 6, 2023 Andy Karr will lead six classes based on his book, Contemplating Reality. Classes are Mondays, 7 – 8:30 pm Atlantic Standard Time.
All are welcome. There are no prerequisites for the class—feel free to invite others to join.
The class will meet in-person at Karma Changchup Ling—please use the garden level entrance only and arrive early to settle so we can begin promptly at 7 pm AST. The class will also be made accessible via ZOOM.
Recordings of the class are posted here.
There are no fees for the class but if you would like to make an offering, Andy has generously suggested you can make a donation to one of Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche’s many activities through Khyentse Foundation, 84000, or Siddhartha’s Intent, or to our hosts for the in-person class, KCCL.
Andy writes about the class:
What’s the point of buddhadharma? It causes buddha nature to reveal itself. Buddha nature is the empty, luminous nature of our minds. Currently, it is obscured by cognitive and emotional veils. It can be revealed through study, contemplation and meditation.
Study provides a map of the terrain, giving us signposts for the journey. Meditation is the way we actually traverse the terrain. Contemplation brings out our inquisitiveness and creates a bridge between study and practice. It brings together intellect and insight. By joining study, contemplation and meditation, our true nature is gradually revealed.
