Twenty five years ago, I was fortunate enough to meet Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. Soon after, and for some unknown reason, Rinpoche asked me to be president of SIWD.
I said, “What does that mean?” Rinpoche laughed. I told Rinpoche that I was just a mother and knew little about running an organization and that I didn’t even spell very well.
Rinpoche looked at me and said, “Perfect.”
My main function is to organize teaching events in the U.S. for Rinpoche. The most important thing I have learned is to delegate, as much as possible, to other sangha members, bringing us all together to host our teacher and create the best environment for others to hear the Dharma.
