Peter Watts

Logistics (Australia)

Peter's journey into Buddhist practice began in 1994 with his first mindful retreat, combining Vipassana and Zen sitting and walking meditation. This experience sparked a deep interest in Buddhism, leading him to complete numerous Vipassana retreats with various teachers in the Southern Buddhist tradition.

A pivotal moment came in 2000 in attending a public talk by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche in Melbourne. This encounter ignited a new direction in his practice, and several years later, Peter found himself in Bangalow, NSW, attending Rinpoche's teachings. The profound impact of these teachings inspired him to seek out many more opportunities to learn from Rinpoche.

Peter holds a Diploma of Arts in Religious Studies, specialising in Buddhism and other Indian and Eastern traditions. He has shared his knowledge by teaching yoga and Buddhist philosophy for yoga teacher training programs. Peter co-developed the Foundations Program with Jakob Leschly and Lianne Metcalf, and now hosts it alongside Lianne to introduce new students at Siddhartha's Intent Australia to Buddhist philosophy.

In January 2026, Peter assumed the Logistics role on the SIA Committee with Lianne’s support. When not engaged in teaching or practice, he enjoys life in Melbourne with his wife Lianne, and their Chow Chow, Miles.
