Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
Rinpoche applies the teachings on anicca to key issues in modern life: freedom, critical thinking, identity, etc.
“If you are a beginner Vajrayana practitioner, you have to accept you will break samayas. If you’re not going to break samayas, no need [for] the teaching. Trying to keep the samaya as intact as possible is our training. And strictly from the tantric point of view, [it is] very easy to break samayas. If you make distinctions between [the] orangeness of Manjushri and the orangeness of Donald Trump, you have broken the samaya. That’s how easy it is to break, but that is your challenge.”
In this talk at Rigpa Paris, Rinpoche responds to questions around Vajrayana practice, touching on themes such as samaya, ngöndro, upholding the Dharma in the West, the intricacies of the tulku system, the future of Rigpa, and a short oral transmission of Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata!
