The Diamond Sutra

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche gave this teaching at the invitation of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.

The Diamond Sutra is one of the most important Mahayana sutras. The sutra discusses topics such as how to enter the bodhisattva path and how to view the Buddha, with a focus on cutting through dualistic thoughts and clinging. Finally, all phenomena should be viewed as a shooting star, an illusion, a bubble, a dream, or a cloud, both there and not there: simultaneous appearance and emptiness. The quintessence of the sutra is this paradox. What is the relevance of these teachings today? As long as there are dualistic distinctions which we cling to, there will always be conflict and dispute. Understanding this sutra, even on a surface level, can alter the way we live and our relationships with others.

**Translations will be available once the teaching is edited.
