The aim of the followers of the Buddha is liberation by seeing the truth. This liberation can be described as happiness but it is more accurate to say that the aim is to be free from entanglement in delusion. Delusion is believing that all things that will decay and disintegrate are in fact solid and permanent, that we are completely independent of causes and conditions, and that all objects have inherent existence. Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche gives practical steps which we can take to dismantle such delusion and thus attain happiness.
