Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche
Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche on the courage it takes to engage the path with radical honesty.
“In order to do nothing we need to do a lot of things.”
Lying flat or tang ping is a recent Chinese cultural phenomenon among young people which implies a rejection of societal pressures and competition, and a desire to live a simple life. It may be the closest thing in Chinese society to the hippy movement and its counter-culture values. It may also be related to the Japanese phenomenon hikikomori, or extreme social withdrawal by young people.
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche analyses tang ping and how it relates to a meaningful life in the ancient Chinese and Indian wisdom traditions.
