Accommodation and booking options
Wānaka is a small town, famous for tourism and which stages numerous events throughout the year. There are many different accommodation options. Seven Treasuries participants are responsible for meeting their own requirements for food and shelter.
There is a high level of interest in this event and we recommend that everyone book their accommodation as soon as possible if they wish to maximise their options. There are many apartment, camping and house type options but only a limited number of hotel rooms.
Most of the beds at various properties that Wānaka i-SITE (information centre) held for the Seven Treasuries event have been booked. After 20th April 2023, Wānaka i-SITE is no longer able to hold the accommodation they previously reserved. However, they are still happy to take bookings and help people find accommodation.
If you need assistance to find accommodation, please feel free to contact Wānaka i-SITE directly. Their contact information is as follows:
Email: [email protected]
Phone: +64 3 443 1233
For those who have already booked their accommodation through Wānaka i-SITE, please pay the balance by 22 September.
Wānaka i-SITE Booking /Cancellation Policy (For Bookings Prior to 20 April 2023)
- To secure your accommodation, a deposit of 1 night’s accommodation should be paid right after i-SITE has confirmed the booking.
- The balance will be required to be paid by 22 September, 2023. This will not be refundable, so travel insurance is important to be covered for unforeseen circumstances.
- The booking can still be cancelled up to 6 weeks before arrival but will incur a 10% cancellation fee of the deposit.
Share Accommodation
One of the best ways to save money and enjoy sangha interactions is to share a house or apartment with others.
Please note that neither i-SITE nor Siddhartha’s Intent have the capacity to manage internal house sharing arrangements. If you wish to share a house with others, you will need to form a group and book the entire house or apartment together.
Siddhartha’s Intent has created a community forum to help everyone share information. If you are looking to start or join a house sharing group, please navigate to the accommodation thread on the community forum page. Only those who have registered tickets are able to log into this section of the website and it is not visible to anybody else. Please allow some time after obtaining your ticket for your details to be added to the guest list on the community forum.
Siddhartha’s Intent has no control over the sharing of accommodation. We ask that everyone take a respectful and responsible attitude to their own safety and comfort.
Think carefully about your expectations and share those with potential roommates before booking. Many of us will be reconnecting with old friends and may wish to spend our nights catching up and socialising, while others will be seeking a quiet space to reflect on the day’s activities. We recommend that you find share-buddies who are compatible with your preferences.
Alternatives to Wānaka i-SITE accommodation
For budget travellers there are plenty of powered camping spaces in Wānaka at YHA or Wānaka Lakeview Holiday Park where people can pitch tents or park their campervan. There are also inexpensive cabins and basic rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities for those who do not have tents. This needs to be arranged by the participants directly with the campsite. There are also plenty of options on Airbnb, Bookabach and Holiday Houses including mid-range and luxury options.
