More detailed Covid measures announced:
Stay in your accommodation if you feel unwell
Covid and influenza are still problematic. The New Zealand government has lifted all mandatory Covid-19 restrictions from 15 August 2023, including seven-day mandatory isolation after testing Covid-19 positive on a RAT.
All Dzö Dün participants developing new respiratory symptoms are advised to rest in their accommodation. This is the single most effective measure to limit the spread of infectious respiratory infections amongst our sangha. RATs are now available in pharmacies that test for a combination of Covid-19, Influenza +/_ RSV viruses in the one kit.
Self-isolate for 5 days if you test positive
Although requirements have been removed, the NZ government recommends a self-isolation period of 5 days after testing Covid-19 positive, even if you have minor symptoms. Day 0 is the day your symptoms started or when you tested RAT positive.
Do a daily RAT for 5 days if a close contact tests positive
Any potentially exposed travelling companions or household contacts don’t need to isolate but are recommended to do a daily RAT for the 5 days starting on the day the affected person tested positive for Covid-19. If your RAT is positive within 7 days of arrival in New Zealand, you are encouraged to also get a follow-up PCR test. These tests help in monitoring for new COVID-19 variants.
Leave the venue if you become unwell
If you develop respiratory symptoms or become significantly unwell during the event you will be able to receive the transmission at your accommodation via password protected livestreaming. Send an email to: [email protected] to receive the link and password. Participants are also requested to include the result of any RAT they have performed in the email.

Reminder to pay deposit on i-Site accommodation bookings:
This is a gentle reminder to pay your deposit for any accommodation bookings that have been arranged through Wānaka i-SITE (information centre). Generally your deposit should be paid as soon as your booking has been confirmed.
Over 700 beds are being held for this event in various lodges, hotels, apartment complexes and backpackers around Wānaka to suit a range of budgets. The accommodation is only on hold until April 20th, so if you still require accommodation please contact them with your request and pay the deposit before April 20th. Of course, the staff at the Wānaka i-SITE are still happy to help with accommodation and other requests after this time if they can.
Here is the Wānaka i-SITE Booking /Cancellation policy:
To secure your accommodation a deposit of 1 night’s accommodation should be paid right after i-SITE has confirmed the booking. The balance will be required to be paid by 22 September, 2023.
